Annual inflation rate in Zambia fell marginally to 15.5 percent in August of 2020 from 15.8 percent in July, as food prices slowed slightly (15.5 percent vs 16.1 percent), namely cereals and vegetables. Meantime, non-food inflation remained sharp (at 15.4 percent), mainly attributable to the prices of transport (33.9 percent vs 34.1 percent); housing & utilities (18.8 percent vs 18.4 percent) and health (12.5 percent vs 12.4 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices inched up 0.5 percent, after increasing 0.3 percent in the prior month, mostly driven by food prices.
