INFLATION

The annual inflation rate in Zambia rose to 11.7 percent in December 2019 from 10.8 percent in the prior month, mainly due to higher prices of food (15.2 percent vs. 13.5 percent in November). On a monthly basis, consumer prices inched up 1.6 percent, after increasing 1 percent in the previous month. Inflation Rate in Zambia averaged 9.71 percent from 2005 until 2019, reaching an all-time high of 22.90 percent in February of 2016 and a record low of 6 percent in December of 2011.
